Lakeland Care’s Community Afternoon Tea: Connecting Clients and Staff with Purpose
At Lakeland Care, we believe in going above and beyond for our clients, not just in the care we provide but in fostering connections within our community. Recently, we hosted a heartwarming afternoon tea event for our clients, giving them the chance to socialize, meet one another, and share their thoughts and feedback.
The event was a wonderful success, and we are truly grateful for the positive feedback we received. Many of our clients expressed how much they valued their carers—not just for the practical support they receive, like help with meals, medications, and appointments, but also for the companionship that keeps them from feeling isolated. It was clear that the consistency of care, with a regular team of carers, makes a huge difference in their lives.
One client shared, “It’s company for me,” while another expressed gratitude for the peace of mind knowing that their carers check in when family can’t be there. This feedback reinforces our commitment to offering not just high-quality care, but a personal touch that enhances the lives of those we serve.
While we were thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive feedback, we also value any constructive input to help us improve. For instance, one client raised concerns about the cost of care, which we are always actively lobbying for increased funding for the sector to ensure our services are both accessible and sustainable.
The event also raised over £60 for Breast Cancer Now. A big thank you to Healthwatch Westmorland and Furness and St Mary’s Hospice Community Hub for their invaluable support in making the event possible.
