Marge Smyth MBA

Managing Director

A born-and-bred local of Ulverston, Marge has enjoyed a highly successful 40-year career across social care, management, and business consultancy. 

In 2008, she founded Lakeland Care, determined to bring high-quality, compassionate care to the community she loves.  

Marge’s leadership is defined by passion, high standards, and a relentless commitment to ensuring her team always delivers top-notch care. 

Dr David Footitt MA BM BCh (Oxon) FRCP

Director

David is a former local Consultant Neurologist known to many and renowned for his caring approach and specialist knowledge. 

David spent over 30 years in the NHS caring for patients in a variety of clinical roles and for the last 14 years has been serving the people of Cumbria.  

Julie Gibney

Registered Manager

Julie is the friendly, compassionate voice you’ll hear when you call the Lakeland Care office. 

With a wealth of hands-on experience from caring for her father for eight years, Julie understands the challenges of seeing a loved one lose independence.  

Starting as a support worker in 2015, Julie now manages a dedicated team of carers and balances this with caring for her own mother with dementia. Her patient, caring approach ensures that she treats every client like family, always striving to meet their unique needs with dedication and empathy.
